Prerequisite definitions

				What is a vortex? People engaged together to catalyze and sustain the emergence of freeorder through learning, investment, and action. Vortices are the principal drivers of forges, the source of energy and fellowship.

				Who makes a vortex? People interested in a particular aspect of the emergence of freeorder who wish to belong to a group of learners who invest in people and projects that are instructive, and who act based on what they learn.

				Why do we make vortices? We have decided that provoking the emergence of freeorder is interesting work, and we have seen that spinning vortices extends studies and actions that we have done and would continue to do even if Explorers Foundation and similar forges did not exist. The fellowship found in a vortex and among vortices brings joy, hope, and a sense of increased power to learn and to make change.

				All the vortices among all the forges sum by more than addition to a University of Freeorder. No central direction. Each forge is a managed enterprise. UF is a spontaneous order, much like a market, and it too is a complex of discovery processes.

				A vortex is not a social network of a kind common on the net today. A vortex is a freeordered conversation. Each vortex has a manager (spinner), and at the same time is rich with undesigned and unpredictable spontaneous order. A rule for the design of freeordered systems is to consider abstaining from controlling things that are within your power to control. Applying that rule to vortices we expect that participants in each vortex will employ a wide variety of tools to manage their own parts of the conversation. Various participants may belong to different social networks online. Others may meet at a resort, or at a camp in a war zone. The spinners of a vortex will track the general direction of the conversation, action & investment potentials and results.
